Soulful Saturday : Fear

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Psalms 118 : 6

Such an incredibly bold statement.
I am convinced many have no idea what they are saying when they quote it.

Another perfect example would be the famous “God is my judge” line. Do you know what you are confessing when you say things like that?

Well, I have given it some thought.
If I were to confess this with my mouth and, at the same time, believe it in my heart it would mean the following:

My life would change drastically. Can anyone say “radical”?
I wonder what would happen should we decide to be radical about living for God alone….. what changes would take place? In my career choices… with my family… who would you be today? Would people be shocked?

It always strikes me how much value we place on the opinion of others.  It threatens to become the very things that define us.
The way we eat or dress or speak and even what we do in out spare time.

But what if I applied this verse? What CAN man do unto me?
The answer is nothing worth anything. When you live for God nothing any man or woman does, no matter who they are, has any value.
The best thing about that is that in serving God only, my service to others will have to become exceptional.

As for God being my judge…what a scary thought! That alone should be enough to keep you in line.

Sadly, it doesn’t.  Its more of a license to do your own nonsense than a reminder that you will answer for everything you do.

What kind of holy fear would it take for you to change how you do things now?

Don’t waste time worrying or fearing what people can do or say. Their opinion counts for nought.

Take time to reflect on what you find is more important to you.
If its lacking, be bold, make the change, stand strong.

Soulful Saturday: A Little Praise, Worship & Thanksgiving

My soul magnifies the Lord!
My heart joys in the God of my salvation
I will sing and dance in the presence of my Saviour
For He is mighty
For He is worthy
Great and awesome is the Lord our God
He is mighty to save, heal and deliver
He is indescribable
Great in battle
Great in wonder
All of creation bows in awe

I stand in awe of You
In awe of Your greatness and Your wondrous love
I love You Abba because You loved me first
You took me as I am
Without question as to my many faults and failures
You inspire me to love and worship with reckless abandon
I will extol Thee oh God
You are rock
You are my Defender
I have nothing if I do not have You
Each day I am overwhelmed by Your everlasting love towards me
Oh that I may dwell in Your house forevermore
Your love has perfected me

Thank You for loving me
Thank You for justifying me
Thank You for Your awesome Grace and Your perfect mercy
Thank You for thinking of me
Thank You for being just
Thank You for being real with me

Free To Be Me

I know who I am.
It took me a while to figure it out. To understand and accept myself as well as who God has called me to be.

It is absolutely amazing to be able to say that. And its made me so passionate about the whole concept and truth surrounding identity. I want everyone to know who they are. To make the same breathtaking discovery that I have.

Yet, I admit, the process of having sought and found who I am has made me grateful for the knowing. I just wish I could help everybody find themselves.

Mainly because I have witnessed so many young people and women lost to themselves and struggling to live a pretend life while trying to convince themselves they are happy.
It breaks my heart.

I find great inspiration in music and lyrics and I would like to share this song with you… it makes my liver sing to know I have the fredom to be all God has intended me to be.

Free To Be Me by Francesca Battistelli
from the album My Paper Heart

At twenty years of age
I’m still looking for a dream
A war is already waged for my destiny
But You’ve already won the battle
And You’ve got great plans for me
Though I can’t always see

I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to put the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I’m so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I’m free to be me

When I was just a girl
I thought I had it figured out
See my life will turn out right
And I’ll make it here somehow
But things don’t always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt, ’cause…
I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to put the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I’m so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I’m free to be me

Sometimes I believe
That I can do anything
Yet other times I think
I’ve got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and tell me
That I’ve got all You seek
And it’s easy to believe, even though…

I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to put the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
And on my own I’m so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I’m free to be me

Soulful Saturday: Grace

One of the things I am most thankful for on a daily basis is God’s grace. It overwhelms me.
No one can tell me better than me exactly how much I’ve done that makes me completely unworthy of it all. And still, God graces me with life and opportunity and liberty. Every single day.

God’s underserved grace is unfathomable.
I was reminded today of the ever famous hymn, Amazing Grace. John Newton got it totally right I believe.

“When we’ve been there
ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing
God’s praise, Than when we first begun.”

There will never be enough time to give thanks for God’s awesome grace. It’s beyond reason and logic. That someone could accept me for me, faults and all, without requiring any sort of payment first? Wow! That’s mind blowing.

It will never make sense to my puny human brain but I am beyond grateful that God did what He did and still does it for me day by day, hour by hour, minute by blessed minute.

It gives me hope.
Hope to face each day no matter what pain it may bring.
Hope that assures me, God has it all under control.

He that lives in hope dances
without music. – George Herbert

I urge you. No matter what you are facing right now, God can be trusted. His love and grace is for you. The same way it is for me.

Let it bring forth hope in you.
Come and dance with me 😀

Thankful Tuesday

God knows exactly how to bless us and bless us indeed.

At the start of this month I was very sure of how things would go down for us as a family. One week in I found myself quite mistaken because God had already done His part without me knowing.

I always testify how God is always working things out for our good. Most times He does it in the background.  Without us seeing, hearing or knowing about it at all.
However, I will be the first to admit, when u are in the situation it’s very easy to forget all of the above in a split second.

But this week God has reminded me… He is my Source. And no one will ever have my back the way He does.

Psalm 66:1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye lands!

God has no use for my noisy complaining or anger or even my noisy silences.
He deserves my joyful noise.
I will rejoice.
He is worthy.

Do what you NEED to do!

Ann Thomas – Author and Speaker wrote this on her facebook page.

I love it!

“There is a SONG of worship that is locked up in your belly waiting to be released.

It’s a sound that is like no other sound.
It’s music to God’s ears and it is uniquely your sound.

No one else can sing your song. And each day God patiently waits for you to come into His presence and sing to Him.

When you don’t show up, it doesn’t get sung.”

peace to you
