Does God Hear Me?

Count it all joy

Psalm 17:6 (NIV) – “I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.”

Sometimes prayers feel as though they are lingering and waiting to be heard.  Rest assured, God hears you and is answering your petitions according to His will for you.  1 John 5:14 (NIV) – “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”  God hears you!

God heard Hagar and told him not to be afraid (Genesis 21:17)

God answered Hannah’s prayer and she gave birth to a son. (1 Samuel 1:20)

God heard the Israelites. (Exodus 3:9)

God hears the whispers in your heart and He is never to busy to listen.  Praise Him, confess to Him, Thank Him and ask Him.  He is waiting to hear from you.

Heavenly Father, “I call…

Soulful Saturday: God is Love

I love that God loved me first.

He didn’t wait for me to ‘come right’ ‘shape up’ or ‘earn it’.
God’s undeniable, unconditional love for me is not dependant on anything I do or even anything I fail to do.
God just loves me!

I find that absolutely incredible and awesome.

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. -1 John 4:10

Wow. Isn’t that great? What an awesome example given to us by our Father.

We love him, because He first loved us. – 1 John 4 :19

I wouldn’t know how to love God if it wasn’t God who first showed me.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. – 1 John 4 :11

My prayer is that I will love as He does and that my love for Him will be tangible and evident in all I do and say.

Life is too short to waste even a millisecond on hate or fear.

Thank God. His love perfects me

The Cost of Discipleship

A price worth paying

Sacrifice (Written November 12, 2014)

Wishing things could be different,

but I can’t change time

nor anyone’s mind.

All I can do is live my life.

Leaving behind what I love for the sake of Christ

is a pleasing sacrifice

to the One

who paid the ultimate price.

I wish you could join me on this journey,

walking in the footsteps God places before you.

But you have chosen your own path,

your own understanding of truth.

While following the world

you declare your love for the King.

But the world hates Him.

What sacrifice do you bring?

You cannot serve both the enemy and the Creator,

death and life,

Satan and the Savior.

To be lukewarm is to be spit out of God’s mouth.

We all have the choice to be disciples

in our hearts and lives.

But the cost of discipleship

is high.

We are called to…

Soulful Saturday: Put God First Already!

I have come across too many people who seem to be fitting God into their lives instead of the other way around.

I’ve been through a lot in my walk with God. And I’m here to say…  it is possible.
Absolutely possible.
To put God and His will for your life first and, at the same time, be all you need to be for your family and career and whatever else melts your butter.

I mention this because I’ve heard and seen too many people use their family or work life as an excuse not to walk worthy of the vocation God has called them to.

They lay claim to ministries and declare all they want to do is please God. They say how much they love doing this or that for God.
Yet, when it matters most, they choose something and someone else instead of stepping up to the calling God has placed on them.

At the end of the day its all about being real with yourself and realising what’s actually important to YOU.

That’s what it is isn’t it? Instead of saying God comes first and having your actions say something else…you could be real and match your words to your actions.

Say it out loud.
My career is more important than being sent to the nations.
My family, my spouse, my girl/boyfriend, my children come before my mandate to pray.
What I look like and what I do when I sing or dance is more important than the One I’m supposedly doing it for…

Maybe then you can get to doing and living what’s important, that which is vital, that which is life giving-period.

Be truthful with yourself about yourself

Truth – Promote Yourself

So apt and on point… had to share.
Happy Monday to all!

It is hard to look in the mirror
when I see an unpainted face
full of imperfections.
I am not beautiful enough.
When I sing, I compare myself to others
who amaze people with their gift,
who are not afraid to share it with the world.
God does not want my praise.
I look at my body and think,
“I will never get to where I want to be,”
pushing myself to be better,
but always feeling like I am not thin enough.
Working hard at school
I still lack confidence despite the results,
thinking I will never be like them,
that I cannot make a difference.
One lie after another finds a corner in my mind
until the light of Christ permeates the darkness.
The Father asks, “Do you not know that I have made you?
That I created you with…

Brownie with Custard and Sniffles

The weather has been coolish all week until today. The sky is mostly blue and I can feel there is heat rising.

Despite my positive thoughts about not catching a cold from my husband I now have a runny nose. My eyes feel all puffy and my throat is just a tiny bit scratchy… add to that the over all feel of lethargy.

However, I still have a two year old rocking my world so no chance of staying in bed to rest up.

I’m a firm believer in keeping my tummy full to help fight the nasty germs wanting to take over my body. So I made brownie in a mug with sum custard.

Quick, dark, chocolatey, easy and ‘baked’ in the microwave.

If— by Rudyard Kipling

Just had to reblog this one. Stumbled on this valuable blog this morning and I am richer for it.

I discovered ‘If’ a few years ago and was instantly captivated by its truth. It reminded me of a rather distinguished young man I am privileged to know.

Now, even these years later, it still rings true.

Thankful Thursday

This is an awesome initiative.
Thankful behavior and awareness is the cure for grumpy tendencies to complain.
It just makes your day lighter!

If you are exposed to any type of social media these days, you have probably heard of “Throwback Thursday”. Well lately, it has really taken off (at least on Facebook) among my friends. When we all first started to post such funny pictures of each other from the past, well, it was, really, uh, funny. However, months later, I am now pretty tired of seeing old pictures of my friends (or of me for that matter) every Thursday.

So I have decided to start a new tradition. I pretty much doubt this is an original idea, but I have decided to start a weekly post called “Thankful Thursday”. Now, by the time I publish this post, most of you will see this on Friday but hopefully I will be more organized and post early Thursday mornings. Tonight, I will just pretend that I live in Hawaii (imagine me waving at…
