Empty Words

If you have something to say about something that bothers you why not say it to the people involved.

There are too many people who have too much to say but they don’t want to say it to the people they have issue with.
However, what surprises me is that they have no problem mouthing off at random acquaintances on social media.
Now I realize this post could sound like I am doing exactly the same thing. But I’m not. I am very passionate about telling it like it is to the people who actually need to hear it.
I just thought I’d share my view.

If you’re not willing to effect a change and make a difference with what you say its just empty words taking up vacant space.
Just keep quiet.

May all of our words aid in fulfilling the purpose we have been created for.

Thankful Thursday: God Knows

This post is a tiny bit late and I am sorry but the last two days have been beyond hectic.

Sometimes things happens to us that we don’t understand immediately.  But somewhere down the line the gt to look bak and go “ohhhhh!” Suddenly it becomes clear.

I’ve been having that kind of experience lately. And I realise that God knows best. And I’m thankful.

I’ve been plagued by a particular situation in my life for a few months now. At some point about a month ago I started planning the use of the law to get it sorted. Ofcourse that meant some money but I needed to be free of this burden.
One night I just decided I’m going to ask God to deliver me from the unpleasant situation and two days ago He did just that.
No struggle or fighting required. GOD IS AWESOME

I am also thankful for God’s hand on the life of the mother of my Godsons. She almost died but God answered our prayers and kept her alive.

Some of the people in my life traveled to Indonesia this week too. My gratitude for journey’s mercies and especially for sanity. Usually I’d be a mess of worry and panic. But God knows how to keep me grounded.

I’m thankful that God knows exactly what I need when I need it. And that He provides it.

I’m incredibly thankful for my family of three 🙂 that we are healthy, happy and blessed.
That when life looks like its falling apart and you might have to dig your way out of the rubble…
God knows best.

What a Wednesday!

Today, with the help of God, I kept it together really well in the face of what could have been a terrible loss.

It was so hot, still is actually.
But in the midst of crises, a potty training setback and looking after all our animals I found some solidity in trying my hand at ravioli!

Needless to say practise makes perfect and I need some practise!

Below… a pic of my very tasty attempt at ravioli (my own homemade pasta of course) filled with fresh made ricotta and blue cheese, fried quickly in garlic, butter and thyme. I added some ricotta on top.
Delicious and creamy. Definitely worth doing again.

Embrace life. All too soon yours may be over.

Today’s Thoughts

Today I went to church twice. Both times to pray. It was a sweltering heat that accompanied me to and fro. Still it always feels good to spend time with the brethren.

I feel a bit sad tonight though. Some people I know are going through some rough patches in their lives.
Rough things are a part of life in general.  I have no problem with that. What makes this sad to me is that their rough patch is because of the way someone handled them.

We develop thicker ‘skins’ every time we get beaten. Every lashing, every stabbing, every bruising session creates callouses on our hearts and souls. And then we are most likely the ones who need to work with great diligence to smooth away these tell tale signs of abuse. Painstakingly soothing away discolouration. Patching up the wounds. The wounds other people have inflicted for reasons unbeknownst to us.

Makes me cry.  I hate injustice.
That’s why its vital to me to stay linked to the God who rights all wrongs. I simply wouldn’t be able to bear living in this world otherwise.

Just wanted to share mu supper wuth you. Making pasta has proven to be very therapeutic.  Especially when you end up with futtucine and a bolognese sauce like in the pic. I topped it with some blue stilton cheese.

Wish my bestie had been here to share it with me. Mayb one day hey!

That Which Is True

As my minutes turn into hours turn into days turn into weeks… you get the gist… I am made increasingly aware of the significance, the vitality of truth.
Especially the truth of self.

Realising who you actually are is life-giving in itself and you can only do so by recognizing and accepting who God has created you to be.

One of the saddest ways we can ever inflict pain on ourselves is by lying to ourselves about ourselves.

Accept and love who you are.
It is only then that you can make a decision that will effect positive, significant and lasting change in the wonderful essence that is you!

Own up. Stand up.

One of the most important things in life is to accept that EVERYBODY does something at some or other time that offends or uplifts someone else.

Not too long ago I was made aware of someone who really looks forward to my status updates on Facebook.

It blew my mind. I barely know this person but yet my daily goings on holds value to them.

So now I realise, it is vital to take ownership of what you contribute in life. Decide what kind of message you want to send out of the essence that is your life. Accept ownership and responsibility for that message. (FYI : That includes all byproducts and consequences)

And then….

Live on purpose.

Soulful Saturday: A Clear Path

I love that God’s Word is able to direct us in life.

I’d be completely lost without it.

Today, my pray for you and I is that we always walk the path lit by God’s word.

Its absolutely vital especially in the world we live in today. Where you cannot trust many people to watch out on your behalf.
When you rely on God’s leadership through His written and spoken word you are destined to win.

Looking forward to tomorrow 😀

Showing My Tresses Some Love

If you have kinky curly coily hair you are most likely to be a moisture seeker like me.

About two months ago I started treating my tresses on a weekly basis with either a moisturizing or protein feeding treatment.

I find that when I go to look for treatments at the stores they are either pricey or have a list of ingredients I am not familiar with at all. Its hard to find products for natural hair where I live. So I look for do-it-yourself (DIY) recipes that I can make at home.

This mix did something wonderful to my hair in the way of shine and moisture.

First I blended a small banana until it was extra smooth. If you don’t do this you may end up with bits of banana in your hair. Not a good thing.
I added 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon glycerin, 1 tablespoon amla oil, 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon of castor oil and enough Hello Hydration Conditioner to make it the consistency of a conditioner that doesn’t drip all over the place.
Mix all of this really well.

I like to apply to detangled hair before I wash because I like to make sure the banana is washed out. Sometimes I add a little coconut oil to my shampoo. But everyone’s hair is not the same, I suggest you experiment and do what works for you.
I don’t have a hooded dryer or steamer and I believe in deep conditioning with heat so I cover my head with plastic and either a scarf or bonnet. If I’m not going to be too busy I will wrap a towel around my head to trap the heat that inevitably builds. For about 30 min to 2 hours.

This ensures that the conditioner penetrates your hair strands.

I then wash my hair and apply my Tressemme Naturals Conditioner and rinse with really cool water.

Loved my shine after…

An’Arresting’ Quote

The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate.
So it goes.
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can.
-Dr Martin Luther King, Jr

That hits the spot for me… wholesome food for thought

Building or Breaking People

In life everyone has an opportunity to either build or break the people they come into contact with.

Today, what I find myself ruminating on is the breaking part. What makes it so easy for one person to break down another person?

If I took more time I am sure I would be able to come up with many scenarios but I want to touch on only one today.

Everyone makes mistakes at some or other time in their lives. The reasons vary but its still a mistake. What makes me stop and think is when some of those same people come across someone else, who has made a mistake, and they look down on them.
These souls often don’t even seem to care that the person who has made the mistake is busy moving on.

One of the worst things to experience, in my opinion, is when you have done something wrong, realised it, paid the price, moved towards fixing it and then have someone constantly reminding you that you did something wrong.

Talk about counter-productive.

It amazes me that so many people find it easier to break someone down than to build them up.

Wouldn’t it just be better to treat someone the way you would like to be treated?
So much simpler too.
