Soulful Saturday: Quiet Time

My pastor has been teaching quite a bit on the importance of having quiet time with God.

It is vital and should also be seen as quality time.

In quietness and confidence shall be your strength ~ Proverbs

This is not your routine scripture-a-day devotional situation.
It’s a time to give and receive so much.

I’d like to share some of what I have learnt with you.

Quiet time essentials:
-proper attitude
-expectancy
-specific time set aside

What are some guidelines for spending quiet time?

-wait on God
-pray briefly
-read scripture
-meditate and memorise
-write down what God says
-spend some time in prayer with God

And finally… when spending time alone with God, use this acronym to identify what you need to apply :

Ask yourself – is there any of the following?

S- SIN to confess
P- PROMISE to claim
A- ATTITUDE to change
C- COMMAND to obey
E- EXAMPLE to follow
P- PRAYER to pray
E- ERROR to avoid
T- TRUTH to believe
S- SOMETHING to praise God for

Then apply it

Hope you enjoy.

My prayer today: Psalm 119:18 –
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
